Vauxhall warranty and diagnostics
Hi everyone,
My 11 plate corsa has had a warning light coming and going the last week, it SEEMS to be something to do with emissions or the catalytic converter, either way it needs fixing. It's under an extended warranty, but Vauxhall have said that they will do a diagnostics check, but if it's something that's NOT covered by the warranty I'll have to pay £70 for the check and then obviously for the work that needs doing. I know someone who could do the check for free but I've heard that this could invalidate the warranty. (I have no paperwork to check btw!)
Does anyone know if this WOULD invalidate the warranty? Desperate to avoid a £70 charge but on the other hand, if it turns out to be something covered by the warranty it will all be done free.
Any help would be massively appreciated!

It won't invalidate your warrenty if your mate diagnoses the fault but Vauxhall won't just take his word for it, they will want to verify it with their own diagnosis hence the charge if it's not a warrenty issue. Pretty standard procedure and not much you can do unfortunately.0

To be fair, I don't think it's unreasonable for them to ask you to pay if it turns out not to be a warrantable issue.
If it was a boiler under warranty, and when they came out to look at they found the gas had been cut off because you hadn't paid the bill, would it be fair to expect the boiler company to swallow the cost?
Or if your TV wasn't working and Comet sent a man round to discover your wife had unplugged it?
Cars are no different really.0
