Hi there. This post is money-saving but only in a negative way, as to what to avoid, so don't expect any glitches in it!
Look at this... I've just been looking at the 7Up cans packs as putting the 6 pack versions possibly onto Tvs M (M £1.59) but I noticed this very high price and still very expensive mbuy price at A:
7 Up (8x330ml)
£4.23 any 2 for £6.50 16p / 12.3p / 100ml
Based on the fact I saw Pepsi 8 can packs years ago at £1.99 in Morries, my reckoning is that an 8 can pack of 7Up "should", at maximum, cost about £2 - and that's on normal shop prices not anything glitching on top.
So, a straight £2. Clearly, an overpricing of more than double that cost and an mbuy that still represents paying £1.25 each:eek: (and total £2.50 for two!) over and above that guide price is a complete rip-off IMO.
What's interesting, however, is the price graph showing on msm. Indeed, according to msm this product has gone down to a straight £1.75 price in the second half of February this year. It has been more expensive, at a straight £4 and no mbuy, last half of September last year (although of course it's more expensive even than that now, if buying only one).
Since October, it's been at about £2 a pack (so to expect 2 for £6.50:eek::eek: now is totally ridiculous IMO and just shows how overpriced we've discovered mbuys almost always are) - it's run through from £2 price but increasing to £2.50 by the end of last year and then February it went down, to its low of £1.75, which is really when it should have been bought and stocked up on, if at all - I'm now talking about putting £1.59 for just a 6 pack onto the list - that seems really so expensive in the light of £1.75 for 8 - and, after that low, it went up a bit and then up to £2.75 and back down a bit. But the very end of the price graph is interesting - as it was £2.18 and then still £2.50, not an overly expensive price, until the last couple of days - 5 July - and then...today or yesterday, mbuy goes on and... WHOOSH!!!... the graph shoots straight up to expensive £3.25 (on mbuy price:rotfl:) today! Shows one of the steepest increases on the graph which now puts it onto expensive mbuy pricing (today 39% above average:rotfl: - so much for a multibuy "saving"!) - I'd never pay £6.50 in the first place! - so, just shows, yet again, to avoid as mbuy pricing is a rip-off IMO.
Fwiw, I have the comparable Tangos on the list (there was a complete change in the drinks area of Tvs M - as they went from Fantas, Lilts and others (now expired) to Tangos and 7Ups - so do not be confused) and, also at £1.59:eek: I'm putting 7Ups onto there (6 cans) but, given the £1.75 price on 8 pack in the past, £1.59 for 6 pack now seems quite dear indeed. Nonetheless, you could, clearly, do much worse especially on being caught by expensive mbuy pricing.
I've no idea who would ever think £4.23 individual would be the price of a single pack, that then needs to be 'mitigated', or saved against, by an mbuy price of 2 for £6.50:eek: - particularly as my idea of cost for these is £2 or below - 2 for £6.50 therefore just won't impress me, and I've no idea who could ever think that 2 for £6.50 is a price to pay for these.
Then again, I'm totally out of touch. The companies clearly can set different levels of price for different types of customer, based on how much the customers are willing to pay. This allows them to charge some people, who are willing to pay much more, a different price to me. They have different brands that are able to set different prices for different consumers and the companies make profits that way. More fool the other person that's willing to pay far more than me!:rotfl: On my gas and electricity, I switch and switch and switch around. However, around 70% of people do not switch and therefore MOST people are on standard tariffs. These are the most expensive tariffs, where companies will happily charge people £200 or £250 a year more that are willing to stay/are loyal/do not switch.
Meanwhile - I am out of touch - I have no idea whatsoever at all why anyone would ever be on a standard tariff and pay the extra costs that being on one means. I cannot understand why anyone would ever remain on a standard tariff. Why would anyone ever do that? Yet the great majority of people do precisely that!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Compare against M's at £1.39 so should be paid 17p each to take away. Not tested yet but will try tomorrow

Speaking of soft drinks can packs, it seems T's pricing has gone up - potentially in our favour - since my check of yesterday. The infernal nuisance that was the 2 for £5 mbuy offer, that would have seen you reducing your PP by taking account of the mbuy, if they even compare vs M, appears to have been removed:T.
Which means - DTD opp. alert! - if you see old 2 for £5 mbuy on shelf! They are now straight £3.19 each - maybe from tomorrow if that's online? - so, hopefully you will get charged 69p more on each one than on 2 for £5 still showing - £3.19 each:D and £1.59 each at M:D.
Thank you T, potentially, for putting your prices up!:D0 -
