hi guys really need your help.
just moved into our new house and have been using the emergency credit on the electirc meter as we hadnt had time to buy tokens. i bought a token yesterday and put it in the meter since we only had 43p left on it. but i'm not sure it worked.i now have 3p left.
how do i find out whether the £5 has gone back on it. rang my mum up to ask her and she said that i should now be 3p in credit and that it should say i have the £5 somewhere on the display. just gone to check the meter but see no sign of it saying the £5 has gone on.
i also noticed that on the token the line has a kink in it whereas other tokens that have been used by previous tenants the line has been straight.
cant ring scottish power up as their lines arent open and dont know what else to do. it has now gone down to 2p and i need electricity what the hell do i do.
also is there anywhere else i can go to get tokens apart from post office i.e local shop/supermarket. i ahve no moey at the moment but my partner will be able to buy one when he gets in from work at 6 in the morning.we havent been sent a electric card yet but have a number to use in the meantime to get tokens can i still use this in shops.
sorry for all the questions
thanks

sorry if this is a bit stupid but, does your meter have an emergency button? That is, a button that gives you a bit of credit for just such an event as this. Only my in laws have such a meter and possibly yours does too if your new you might not recognise it. If not, sorry for not being any help0

hi yes it has a button which says above it press for emergency credit/show display. have tried pressing it but it just comes up with the tarrif rate and some other numbers.
money will run out soon so guess i'l find out if its in or not when i press the emergency button.
tried ringing my brother to get me another token but hes not in so i'm stuck until my partner gets in from work.

Are you so new in to the house that it may be the case that the emergency button had already been pressed when you arrived? If that was the case then your £5 credit would be gobbled up by the "Credit" which had been given and might explain why when you put £5 in you only had a few pence shown in credit. If I remember right, when in laws pressed it the credit amount shown increased. I guess you'll know when the lights go out. Feel for you. At least its still light now.0

It should say 'emergency credit available' on the display.
If you haven't already, register with your supplier, as the other possibility is it is gobbling up the money for a debt on the meter.0 -
how much do you get charged for the 'rental' of the token machine? could this be why the amount was so low?
Im with BG and get charged the rental thursday or friday0 -
Hi
All energy providers have emergency numbers try 0845 272 7999 for scot power. Not sure it will work. All suppliers have the ability to send an emergency engineer for customer's in vulnerable positions. They then credit the meter on arrival.
Really hope this number works0 -
Heres a link to the list of emergency numbers i found
