computer not always starting

anyone help the problem is that my pc will not always start when the button is pressed when i switch it off at the mains and put it back on the light at the front and the dvd rom light flashes once there is a slight noise from it like something is working to get it switched on today i had to switch it off keep my finger on the button to start the computer and swith it on at the mains
anyone help

Sounds to me like you have a dodgy on off button that might have a loose connection or something.

i would also try somethign which we use at work a lot - iit sorts a lot off problems like this out

u remove all cables (try just power cable 1st) when there is no power to the machine press and hold the main power botten down for about 30 secs and then plug cables back in and try again.

may not sound like a lot but i have seen this fix many computers

apprently it removes the static off the mother board.
