mortgage PPI

Hi I wonder if anyone can advise as to whether there is a time limit on being able to claim PPI on a previous mortgage ? I am pretty sure that I had PPI but I work for a local authority and I understand that I would not have been able to make a claim anyway. However I switched my mortgage a good few years ago. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards.

There is no time limit but you may find some companies have destroyed files and the information they held. Also if its pre-regulation then you may find a complaint dismissed without any recourse to FOS.
If you worked for a local authority that is fine and is not a mis-selling reason. There's nothing wrong with having a PPI to protect your mortgage.0 -

Only the timebar limits (which dont occur much on PPI yet) and the pre-regulation limits if bought before Jan 2005 via a distribution that did not have an earlier membership to a regulatory body.I am pretty sure that I had PPI but I work for a local authority and I understand that I would not have been able to make a claim anyway.
That is not correct. There is no reason why working for a local authority would be a mis-sale on MPPI. It could be on some loan and credit card PPI but not MPPI.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
