This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all
I hope everyone's problems with being timed out are now resolved, I've not had any problems so far.
We had a bit of a disaster yesterday, we had friends pop over for a drink & as one guest sat down the chair collapsed under her, it just fell to pieces. She rushed off immediately as she was so embarrassed. We are very worried as she is 12 weeks pregnant.
Hugs to Elona, Molly, Mrs LW, HWK & anyone else in need.
My neighbours must think I'm mad if any of them noticed me as I was hanging washing on the line at 1:30 in the morning.
I shall go back to bed eventually I hope, but there is no point just laying in bed wide awake.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning one and all. Rather cloudy start here but at least the gale force winds that battered us all day yesterday seem to have eased a bit.
I hope you got back to sleep Hester, the nights are endless when you feel you are the only person awake. I had a run off waking up around 2 a.m. feeling wide awake, bad thoughts going round in my head, which went on for a couple of years. Like you, I felt there was no point tossing and turning so came downstairs to read or roam on the internet. I am marginally better now but still an early riser, usually about 6 a.m. Of course this Interstitial Cystitis doesn't help when I have nights back and forth to the loo.
We have decided to go back over to the caravan later today, staying till Thursday when we need to be back for the DGD's next sleepover. Only the two youngest next week as the eldest is going on a school residential trip. She is only away 2 nights but has been given a list of things they have to take a mile long! Including 3 pairs of trainers!! One for wet activities, one for dry activities and another for evenings. The ones I got myself from a cs last week (with sparkly trimmings) have been declared awesome and would be ace for evenings so they have been commandeered and are going with her! And I never got chance to wear them! (We are both a size 3)
I am going to cook a gammon joint for lunch and the remainder will come in handy at the 'van for a quick bite or sandwich. I can't really meal plan as we take each day as it comes depending on the weather! I take fresh veg and salad with us but prefer to take frozen meat and fish then nothing goes to waste if we set off for the day and eat out or take a picnic.
Have a good Sunday everybody and (((HUGS)))) to all in need. Take care xxxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
good morning chums ,weather is bright and sunny here in the garden of england.I had my mini walk yesterdaay and went to the library, post office and alittle bit of food shopping local greengrocer had some delicious local strawberries from the farm and I treated myeslf to some.Plus a few odds and ends that I needed I took my 'dolley-trolley' with me and took it slow with several sit-downs on the way and what would normally have taken about half an hour took me almost two but I felt better for the fresh air and walk and spent the rest of the afternoon with my feet up
:):).DD is picking me up later to go to her house for dinner so no cooking to do today.Breakfast will be cereal and coffee I think.
I put a gammon joint in the slow cooker before I went to bed last night so I will have plenty of sliced cold meat for salads this week.Kitchen smells lovely
I am hoping I get my stitches out tomorrow as I have another hospital outpatients appointment in the afternoon..Hope everyone has a good day what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning :hello:
Nice to see you JackieO xx
I found my sunglasses, they were on the bookshelf, on top of a couple of recipe books

Scampi was a bit nervous when we arrived at the centre but after a couple of minutes he trotted off with one of the men, without a second thought. I said ' erm, bye then Scamps' and he glanced round as if to say 'oh yeah....... see ya'

I was a bit surprised when we arrived here, there was a supply of tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits, even a new pint of milk in the fridge. There were soft fluffy towels on the beds, and the loo rolls had a couple of sheets torn off, made into little flower shapes and put on top, in the tube. It's all a bit posh for me, I felt like I should ring the office and ask if I'd been put in the correct house
I can see the sea from the bedroom window so am very excited about that :rotfl:
Mr tru has found a beer shop so he's happy, I've located the fresh food shops so I'm happy
I'm sat in the kitchen with the door open, there are bees buzzing around the flower pots outside and I can hear the sea. Perfect! I won't say the the exact address on here (will do that once I'm home!) but I'm very close to Porthgwidden Beach.
We're staying nearby today, so no need to pack food and drink, we can just pop back if we want anything. There are two sets of keys so if we're getting on each other's nerves we can wander off on our own without having to wait for the other one to turn up to unlock the door

Morning everyone.
The weather is calm, no wind, no rain and blue skies. Can it last?
HH - sorry to hear you're sleepless, it's horrible to lie in bed and not sleep.
Tru - your holiday place sounds fabulous! You can't beat a sea view.
TA - your mention of a gammon joint made me want one. I need to go out anyway so may add one to my list. Hope you enjoy your few days away.
JackieO - so lovely to see you posting and happy that you're back home fully formed.
Today will be shopping and a potter in the garden. Can't really call it gardening as I just tour the place and look at the plants. I'm pulling up nettles and dandelions as I go. Still waiting for my outside water tap to be installed...Argyll time!
My new windows are being made and I paid the deposit the other day, so excited about them.
Enough, I shall get up now.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday.0 -
Morning All
Had a pottering day yesterday as the weather was just awful. Went to see 'Spamalot' last night in Glasgow with DD and some friends, had a meal before in a 'spoons which was ok, fairly reasonable and had a g&t too. Really enjoyed the show but not sure it was as funny as the last time I saw it. There are lots of things on that I would like to see but it is so expensive to go to the theatre.
The weather looks a bit better this morning, need to change DDs bed and have assorted bits of washing to get done so hope it stays good.
tru - your holiday cottage sounds wonderful.
JackieO, glad the fresh air made you feel better, just don't overdo things.
TA, enjoy your trip to the caravan.
Need to shop for toiletries today (how exciting!), apart from that nothing much planned. Hope you all have a good Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning everyone it's a beautiful sunny day here today and looks like it's going to be warm too. We're off to a boot fair in a few minutes and then going across to the fruit and veg stall for supplies as the fridge is looking like it belongs to mother hubbard! We have a real treat tomorrow we're walking with Alpackas somewhere near Winchester, DD1 got this for us as our main christmas present and I'm so looking forward to it. Apparently we get to tack them up and walk with them along the river valley and a stop for coffee and cake built in , I assume that's for us not the alpackas but I could be wrong, there's no reason why alpackas shouldn't like cake too is there?
We're getting gradually used to the fact that Docky isn't here now and gradually starting to move his bits and pieces from where they are, not easy but not as hard as it was a couple of days ago. Thank you all for the outpouring of support, kindness and sympathy I've received, you'll never ever know how much it's helped but it has, in bucketfulls particularly the poem from Butterfly Brain which has enabled me to still take him with me when I walk, oh my friend you'll always be receiving my thanks for that, Lyn xxx.0 -

Glad to see JackieO, and hugs to Mrs LW. Tru, St Ives is my favourite place, lucky you.
Off to open gardens in local village today, the grand sum of £3.50! Cake may be involved ......
Glorious day here today, so a walk by the beach is a definite to do today.Carolbee0 -

Lovely sunshine here. Been awake on and off since Dh went to work at 4 but have WM on and just doing list of bits needed from SM for work this week.
Had BBQ last night and probably again tonight. Need to get organised this week as DD and DGBs are coming next weekend :j:j
DH was looking after neighbors new pup last night when we went to take it out for a walk it knocked me over and as well as ripped pair of new cropped trousers I have shiny new bruises on my thigh
:o
Its a husky and I don't think they have started training it yet. Needless to say think I will keep my distance for a bit even as lovely looking as he is
Jackie O lovely to see you posting and glad you enjoyed your walk.
Mrs LW you have wonderful memories of Docky and I know these will help you
Hope everyone keeps well and has a lovely day

Hi all
I went back to bed about 5ish & slept until 8 so not too bad, we now have something extra to worry about, the threat of legal action because of the collapsing chair, hey ho, fingers crossed it comes to nothing.
I cooked breakfast & now hubby is pottering in the garden, I'm going to make myself a peg bag this afternoon, this morning I'm turning a french stick left from yesterday in to garlic bread, I shall freeze it in sections & take it out as we need it. Everything else got eaten apart from some salad from the garden & that will do for my lunches next week.

Oh Hester, what a worry. Was the person injured? Surely it was just an accident.0
