Home Insurance - Is no claims discount lost if you break chain when selling?

I've recently sold my house and am temporarily living with relatives until the house purchase goes through. I cancelled my home insurance, does this mean I'll have lost the no claims discount I'd built up (5+ years)?

The gap between selling and buying will be around 4 weeks.

Some insurers ask how long you have been continuously insured without claiming.


Others simply ask about claims in the last x years.


You need to check the question being asked (and avoid buying from any that uses the "continuous years" question.)

Ok, thanks. Every one I've come across has asked about continuous years, though some have also asked about how many claims were made.
