PPI & Charges

Hi all

With the advice given on the forums I successfully claimed backed £3.5k from Barclaycard. To be fair, they told me on the phone that it was a straight forward case.

I actually have three credit cards; Two Barclaycard, one MBNA. One of the Barclaycards is a carry on from EGG, they refused the claim on that on three occasions, the last letter stating I should take it to the FOS if not happy. The reason they give is that the box as ticked on the application. I have a number of questions regarding the credit cards that probably have simple answers;

I want to see what any charges I've been charged, I will write to Barclaycard asking for the statements for the last six years, will one £10 cheque be okay for both or will they be awkward and want £10 for each card?

With regards the EGG/Barclaycard, shall I ask for a SAR request to actually see what the application is as I suspect it was pre-ticked?

I did have a HSBC card which I closed a few years a go, I did use it but always paid of the balance at the end of the month. I do know for a fact that CPP was automatically applied because I remember the sticker on the card that said activation was required and that activation was in fact CPP. Again, shall I request a SAR and see what actually happened?

Thanks for any help.

    DSAR is a request for all the data they have on you so one per bank

    Bank charges are a waste of time, the banks won the "unfair charges" case back in 2009, they do not have to entertain requests for refunds of old cases

    CPP refund scheme was running last year, it is now closed, unfortunately you missed the boat on that - you should have had a letter and been invited to both vote if you want a refund and then to get the money back

    Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

    People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
