Penalty Charge Notice for No Right Turn.

I have received a ticket for a no right turn - having not seen the two signs either side of the road that leads out of a one-way street.

I am not convinced that the rule is as clear as could be in that there is no painted arrow on the road surface to suggest goingt left only. But is this a cause for appeal. That is to say, is it actually law that to enforce a no right turn, there can be just a sign and no painted arrow on the road?

Thanks

Failure to comply with a road sign, so yeah, its legal. There is not 'failure to comply with a road sign plus corresponding painted markings' law. Speed limits are not painted on the floor.

Signage is all that is required.

How many times do you see the signage painted on the road when you go from one speed limit area to another?

only a sign is required, they do not have to paint any marks on the road.

FWIW, I dont think I've ever seen "no right turn" painted on the road.

You might have arrows telling you which lane to get in for straight through/left turns but I've genuinely never seen one for no right turn.

I'm curious as to how this is related to consumer rights.

A sign conveys a Traffic Regulation Order.
So you would only have a defence if the sign was incorrectly placed with the regulations, which many are with some research.
Then does the Highways/ Council have the required TRO in place for the sign.
    Often they don't.

Page 18 onwards deals with No right turn signs and states where they must be placed.
If the sign is non compliant with the regulations or required repeater signs are missing you have a defence.
