Direct debit indemnity investigation

Hi all, used this site for a while but only just signed up! I took out a maintenance plan for my new car which I took out in September 2014. The direct debit is £17 a month which I have been paying since last September. I've decided that I no longer want the maintainance plan (I haven't received any maintainance yet) and was wondering if the bank would refund the all the payments through an indemnity investigation? Thanks for your replies.

Nope..in my bank. One call was all it took. No investigation..no reason required (although I did give one)0

and did the firm then come after youDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Gonna phone my bank and claim back all my DD payments for insurance for the past several years.
Never claimed so I'm due a hefty windfall.0 -
Er...the bank will refund the money because the Direct Debit guarantee promises an 'immediate' (meaning of the word 'immediate' seems to vary
) refund if you dispute a direct debit, but you still owe the money because, although you haven't claimed, you agreed to pay for the plan and although you haven't claimed on it, you were covered.
It's like saying you've paid for a dentist appointment, but they found nothing wrong, so you want the money back...questionable at best, although personally I'd say downright immoral.
Edit: Grammar correction and minor elaboration0 -
Some banks will check that your reason for claiming actually matches the direct debit guarantee. Either the wrong amount or the wrong date rather than just buyer's remorse.0
