This is something you should always check when buying from Amazon. I bought a £700 automatic cappuccino maker reduced to £399 just before christmas as a joint christmas pressie for hubbie and I (coffee addicts).

It was delivered the day after boxing day and the following day I looked it up on the site to re-read the reviews and saw that the price had dropped by £50 since I ordered, so e-mailed them with a confirmation e-mail back from them the same day and my money in my account the next day.

Looking back on Amazon yesterday I saw that it has gone back up to the original price I paid, so the price drop only lasted 3-4 days and I was lucky enough to catch it.

I've also had a £20 refund on a digital camera before christmas, which again went back to the original price later.

Thanks for the tip. I had noticed one of my Christmas orders was reduced in price, so I've emailed now in case the price increases again.

Re: my earlier post (in blue text above) I got a refund on the book, and customer service said that I should have been given the £1.00 in the first place, because what matters is the price at the time you email them, not the price at the time they read your email. If there is a discrepancy in the prices they are supposed to look at the price history of the item and refund you according to the price it was at the time you wrote your email.

I recently got £7 back on a set of dvd's I bought. I'm going to have to check the rest of the stuff I ordered at Christmas. Thanks for the reminder.

Well, that's a bit of a bummer. Everything that had dropped in price since I bought them, i'd ordered on the 29th of November - so I missed out on almost £20 by just a few days.

I'm pleased it isn't the other way round! I ordered 2 DS Lites before the prices went silly before Christmas! I paid £94 ... then they went up to £140!
