I have to say that I find it extremely hard to take, at face value, the figure of 41% of people who tried haggling in Tesco succeeding.
I think the definition of 'haggling' would have to be extremely wide for this to be correct.
I also suspect that, even with the widest possible definition, it would only apply only to a tiny proportion of the goods they sell. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I disagree with the point of if it's on sale that opens the door to more reductions.
A lot of retailers (including some of the top ones mentioned in the list) will be making a loss on sale items as loss leaders, and so will be much more reluctant to lower the prices further.0 -
This is utter rubbish. It may have been true that haggling worked at Currys in the past but I can tell you for certain that this is no longer allowed - KTF is correct that they will price match as long as you prove it
I know you commented this a long time ago but that's not true. You just need to ask the right person. The guy I spoke to worked pretty hard to put the sale through the till in such a way to give me a discount on both the warranty AND the laptop.
Got a tenner of each, so £20 basically just for asking. I think that's decent on a laptop that was already on sale.0
