Marketing a property that is sold STC

Thanks jm2926 but I think that might be redundant. I would have to pay the first solicitor a non-complete fee in addition to paying them or another solicitor for the subsequent completion anyway. I would only accept another offer if I had concerns about the existing offer falling through or if a better deal (i.e., cash buyer, no chain) came along. I'm a man of my word but once bitten, twice shy I'm afraid. Doing this 'properly' no longer seems to be the norm; it's all about 'playing the game', which I f**king detest with a passion.0

You should clarify this with your SOL. I can't understand why the EA will refuse to keep the property on the market, if it means they would be able to sell for more. So I can imagine there is a valid reason. As a buyer it won't sit well with me if the property was still on the market, would be concerned of the possibility of being gazumped!0

The estate agent claimed it was against the law to keep marketing a property once an offer is accepted. Their motives were probably because they believed they had a sale and that couldn't be bothered showing anyone else around because the chances are it would be sold. As for the buyer not being too happy about the property still being marketed, I totally agree with that, but you would have thought the prospect of losing the property would hasten some action - evidently not!0

I think you will struggle to find a Scottish agent to do as you ask, and it will be even more difficult to persuade a buyer to proceed while you continue to market it. Good luck with your sale though, it must be incredibly difficult to have it fall through twice

I am in Glasgow.
We offered on a house, have had the offer accepted, solicitors going about the normal stuff and we are looking to sign missives early next week with a move in date in 12 days. The property has still been marketed online for the last 7 weeks as thats just the way that agent works. We did not ask for it to be removed from rightmove. The agent has told us that anyone who enquires will be told the house is SSTCM but they would take their name should the sale fall through.
I have no problem with it.0 -
Sounds like your estate agent is talking nonsense however how they run their business is up to them.0
