At least 10% Housing benefit cuts could be on the way

that seems a very trivial matter compared to the benefits of the system
i.e. new money into the local (poorer) community from all their benefits mainly funded from central government
plus better schools and services where most needed.
a win for everyone
You seem to think there benefits are high but if they don't have loads of kids they will be quite low.
Another thing to think about the extra demand will cause local rents to increase.0 -

so you're against extra demand for goods and services in poor areas: you would prefer them to decline instead?0 -
Just a point which I haven't seen mentioned in all the talk of shipping people off elsewhere.
Many on housing benefit (I think the majority, though I could be wrong) DO actually work. It's just they cannot earn enough, for whatever reason, could be single parent to fully pay their bills.
Housing benefit does not just go to those who don't and won't work. The majority used to, but as housing becomes so expensive, more and more workers are having to rely on the state.
The talk of people taking housing benefits being failiures and expecting other grown ups to look after them is quite condescending and downright insulting to many families all over the UK who are doing their very best within their constraints.0 -

I can't afford to live in London - please send money otherwise I'll be insulted and my feelings might be hurt.0 -

Of course, many do work but that could be for only a few hours a week. Outside London, very few full time workers/families claim anything other than a few pounds LHA/HB.0
