Insurance Complaint

If I've made a complaint against my insurers based on how poor the service has been when making a claim, negligence for example, should I be claiming compensation from them based on this? Do they ever pay out on a complaint?
Anyone had experience of being put out and getting compensation?

Your letter of complaint should state how you want them to put things right. There should be a break out of any actual financial losses you've sustained as a consequence along with any evidence to support it plus then a separate line of what "inconvenience" type compensation you want.
Most insurers will make a modest non-financial loss payment depending on exactly how bad their breach was and how much issue it caused you.0 -
Thanks for that InsideInsurance. The non-financial loss payment is the part I'm talking about most of all, I think. We sent them a letter detailing all their failings, received a flimsy rebuttal which shirked responsibility but we've since argued against the rebuttals and pointed out their flawed arguments. They agree compensation is due, but I'm unsure what I should accept or expect them to offer.0

Have a look at the technical guidance on how the FOS decide what is appropriate compensation:
