Ok thanks... I think. I rarely buy computer equipment from Amazon, but it is usually quick for finding examples of products. I could not actually find anything to do with PCSharks on Amazon, so hopefully it will not be an issue for many people. I even googled them and it came up with this very page we are on now as one of the top hits!To err is human, but it is against company policy.0 -
in what way is it defunct, does it spin, does it light up, does it work on other machines, does it appear in device manager or disk management
It started by being recognised intermittently on my PC. Sometimes it would show it was there, sometimes not. When it was showing, if I tried to save anything on it then it disappeared. Then it failed to be recognised completely.
I tried it on my laptop and it wasn't recognised on there either.
Maybe I should buy a new cable first and try it with that, but it's the age of the drive that makes me think it's given up the ghost, it must be at least 7 years old, possibly older.
There's a small independent computer shop in the small town where I live, I could perhaps take it in there and ask him.0 -
the markup on cables etc is fantastic , maplins is another example.
I use a lot of 1n4001 diodes in some electrical kits I build for motorcycles , I ran out last week
37p each at mapins , that's £37.00 per 100
CPC , £2.10 per 100
enough said?0 -

this is the trade supplier I use , quite often they buy in bulk , and are stuck with high prices , 2.5 in drives http://cpc.farnell.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?catalogId=15002&langId=69&storeId=10180&categoryId=700000010559&sort=P_PRICE&pageSize=25&showResults=true&pf=110171692,110436921
there postage is free and there warranty very good , you can do a search for usb leads and a lot more stuff
I think a 5m hdmi lead cost me about £4
I only live about 2 miles away and they do click and collect (1 Hr) , so its good for me0
