Hi susanmc!
Recvd a reply email today from "Pippa Proud" at TBP (their dedicated VIP Passport Points holder's customer manager!) saying...
"Please be advised that 3 replacement books have been despatched today which are suitable for ages 6-9 years. Please donate the 3 unsuitable books to a local charity or library with our compliments."
So, I've been given replacements for the 3 books that I 'complained' about (two from the 9-12yrs range and one from the 0-5yrs range), rather than being sent a whole new set.
I will update again once the new books come through...
Replacement books (for the 3 unsuitable books that were included in my 6-9 girls lucky dip selection) have arrived:
1. Roald Dahl - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (40th Anniversary hardback edition). RRP £12.99
2. Gail Carson Levine - Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg (hardback). RRP £12.99 (listed on Amazon for £9.15).
3. Jane Bull - Dorling Kindersley: The Dressing-up Book (hardback). RRP £6.99(listed on Amazon for £5.49)
Unfortunately, I already have the Roald Dahl book (into the xmas pressie box it goes!), the Fairy Dust book is suitable, but I think the Dressing-Up Book is too babyish - my daughter has passed the stage of wanting to make boxes into cars! Although, checking the publishers' websites, they do state that all of the above books are suitable for 5-8 yrs, so can't complain! If you've found this post helpful, for your thanks, I'd be grateful!Log on, then click the 'thumbs up'and give my rating a leg up!0 -
I did wonder whether all the books sold in lucky dips really were their surplus stock as suggested or they'd bought in some job lots (like the Spurs book) to bulk them out.
Unfortunately I've been ruthless and thrown out all my old catalogues, so no way of knowing unless there's a mega-hoarder out there who can check the last 10 years' catalogues!0 -
I order 4 different age ranges and was please with them all...great number of birthday and crimbo pressies.....Reclaimed thanks to this site: £2596.71

I sent an email at the weekend saying that I was a bit disappointed with both my lucky dips and got a voicemail on my phone to say not a problem, here's two more!
Hopefully not the Spurs book and the baby book again!!!"Stay Wonky":D

How long is it taking for book people to get back to people with complaints?
I phoned yesterday morning about my order and the fact that someone elses order was showing on my account and they said they would get the supivisor to phone me back, but still have not heard anything.
It's someone elses order showing that bothers me most. not sure I should have someone elses details. just checked and despite me telling them they are still there.Started comps 7th August 2007 total for 2007 £1890

I got mine today, got 10 fiction and 10 non fiction. The fiction is okay and suits my inlaws who went halves but the non fiction is a bit heavy and looks like the books that they couldnt sell.
I was also expecting 1 or 2 expensive hardbacks and got 2 wafer thin paperbacks about philosophers.
There are only 2 that interest me but then again I am fussy and you get what you pay for I suppose.
Puttting some on ebay for the literature students, might make a profit.0 -
I got another 10 non fiction books,
another philosipher one, mums on babys, barbra cartland, the sandi tos.. fiction book again? the iraq war, the lettter from WW1, times sudoku, meaning of something, the one about depression, and some other one,
they still have not sorted out my account, it stil shows someone elses order.Started comps 7th August 2007 total for 2007 £1890

Just had an email from customer services. They were sorry for the inconvenience and are sending me a whole new set of 0-5yrs. Any books I dont want send to the local charity shop.
I only said I didn't think the scoubidoo book was appropriate for any child under 5.
That is good customer service.0
