My 20 year old daughter had her assessment for esa today. She's been diagnosed with ocd and trauma and is still being assessed for Aspergers. She hasn't left the house on her own for over 2 and a half years and also finds it hard to leave the house with someone. Public transport is a definate no no and so is crowds, strangers, queues and a lot of other things on top of all that.

And yet a year ago the business was going to run on a friend's smallholding and you said,

"The people who own the small holding also live on the premises. My daughter will be there from 9am to 5pm and when she's not they are going to check on the animals for her. If she has any indoor overnight pets to look after she will be staying overnight."

    ETA

And, around the same time you wrote,

"She now runs her own petsitting business. She used savings to rent a workshop space and takes in small animals and exotics and does home visits for dogs and cats. Shes really busy earning between £150 and £200 per week. Shes in popular demand as shes the only pet sitter in the area who is actually qualified in animal care!"

Hardly surprising they're suspicious, is it?

Lying and stealing benefits is what's really nasty.

Of course people's mental health can get worse but the fact is that you stated earlier on the thread that she hadn't been out of the house alone for 2 1/2 years when a year ago she was working outside your home and making home visits to her clients.

I think that the shame should be all on your part.

And in March the daughter was looking at buying a pet shop - how does that fit with an inability to deal with strangers? I wonder if she told the assessor about her business plans ...

Let's be honest, who on earth is not going to play the system, tell a few white lies and divert the truth a bit if it means getting a financial leg up the ladder?
Are we all on this site so whiter than white? I doubt it.

What is the difference between the OP and say an ESA/DLA/PIP claimant that exaggerates a little with their GP to get a good report, who obtains medication on a repeat prescription every month but neither takes it or needs it, but it does make good reading when you send it in as evidence.
Who actually admits to being able to walk 60 metres with no trouble when claiming that they can't manage 20 metres?
Who swears blind that their washing machine has been out of action for a week whilst under a warranty - when it was still being used every day in order to claim compensation.

Give up, who does? Not me, my repeat prescriptions are filled and consumed by me daily. I have never lied about a washing machine in my life. (That's because we splashed out for a Miele, never broke down in nearly 20 years:D)

When I read posts like this one when a poster makes a claim of a need for disability benefits that completely contradicts the lifestyle they have forgotten they have described in previous posts, I can't help wondering how many there are around who do exactly the same, but have been more savvy keeping quiet about all the things they have been doing that contradicts their claim.

I can't help wondering how many go to their assessment and totally lie off their face but the assessor doesn't have the luxury of checking previous posts! If the person is prepared to lie to the assessor, they most likely have lied in just the same way to their GP and other professionals. Maybe that's why they have to resort to asking 'wierd' questions, because they can pick up that the applicant is lying and trying to catch them out.

My friend lied at her assessment and got in support group, she has bi polar. Went with walking sticks, stopped her medication a few days beforehand.
Said she couldn't go out on her own or do anything. Yet its all over face book she goes to gym, discos. Long lists of housework. She went with no make up on and didnt wash for a few days. Yet normally she is done up to the nines.
