Intergrated fridge freezer broken??

I've got an intergrated fridge freezer thats been switched off for about 4 months. I turned it back on at the wall socket yesterday morning but its still warm inside. The light goes on when the door is opened but you can only hear the motor going sporadically for maybe 20 seconds then or swirches off.
Anyone have any idea what I can do to get it working? Is there something I should be doing? Or is it broken and if so how can I tell for definate?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Have you've checked the temperature control is set low enough? It's easy enough to miss these things.
If that's not the problem, I expect something is broken. While it's impossible to say without seeing the fridge in person, your problems do sound very much like the relay or the motor run capacitor has failed. Either failing can cause the motor to attempt to start, but not succeed. I certainly wouldn't look anywhere else until I'd checked these two parts first.0 -
Thanks for the reply.... it leaves me in a bit of a quandry as its built in there's no easy way to access the back like a freestanding one. The cost of getting an engineer out I suspect for a dead unit or even just the cost of repair will mean its better not to look and just replace it.
Just what I didn't need!!0 -
I had my integrated fridge freezer repaired quite reasonably. I was nervous about how they would do it but I found a repair place who are agents for the fridge make itself and got them round. And they diagnosed and fixed it in under an hour. Have you seen how much a replacement would cost?0

Just to update... had the repairman round and he confirmed that the motors gone so cheaper to buy a new one. Looks like cost with instalation will be around £500. What can I do other than pay up? No answer required!0 -
You can get a cheap one around £300...0
