ASDA debit card payment taken over 2 months!

Options
Hi, this is my first post! I checked my online bank this morning to discover a payment for £130 had been taken out of my account by Asda on the previous day. I haven't shopped at Asda for months so initially though my card had been cloned/hacked. I called the bank straight away to find out that I had used my debit card at asda on the 29th March and they have only just taken the payment! After that I called asda customer service who said there had been an IT issue at the store and there had been a number of transactions that had not processed. He also said legally they have 6 months to take the payment, does anyone know if this is true? Luckily I had enough money in my account to cover it but will be skint till pay day :(.

What Asda said is true. Also they actually can pursue what you owed for up to six years.

So what happened to the £130 you had in your account waiting for the Asda transaction to appear?

You got the benefit of 2 months interest free credit on the £130.

Nearly true, what they mean is they have 6 months to take the DD without needing the card holders permission. After 6 months they need to get authorisation again, if it's refused to have up to 6 years to take the matter to court.

Baked beans on toast and spaghetti till pay day, just like your student years.
