Morning All
Later start for me today. We went to one of DH work friends wedding reception last night. It was a really lovey evening in a great location and the good weather was icing on the cake. Most of the "boys" DH works with are younger than him and it was lovely to see how well they get on together.
He is still asleep, not used to being out on a school night, whereas have been up and about doing some washing and bill paying. Back to work in the morning.
Might treat myself at the nail place this afternoon, DH has decided to play golf and has said I can meet him there for dinner. Lucky me lol
We have friends for a bbq tomorrow so hoping the weather holds.
Thinking of anyone who is sad, ill or just having a bad day . I have to admit it was always lovely to read those messages when I used to lurk.
Have a good day all

Hi everyone,
Dumpling I know just what you mean about the cards. I also loved my mum and miss her now she's gone, but by no stretch of the imagination could she have been described as "Worlds best Mum". I also had to avoid any saying "thank you for the wonderful things you do" lol. I find it very difficult to lie, even in a card.
Fingers crossed for DH's interview Hester. Tru, I hope this phase passes quickly, I used to say that to my children sometimes, "I love you but I don't like you very much at the moment".
It's a lovely day today so I might try to get out in the garden and maybe see if I can tackle a walk - I've got some sort of virus I think which is wiping me out.
Have a good day.0 -
Afternoon all,
I tried to post this morning but gave up in frustration after taking almost 5 minutes to thank a couple of posts.
Mom is a little better today, she is a little more awake and the grey colour in her face has gone. I have my Grandson on Thursdays so had to take him down with me to see her. My brother was there which was awkward since we are estranged but having said that, it went well all things considered.
Mother can no longer reach for a drink so she is having to be spoon fed and a cup has to be held for her to drink and she takes sips through a straw. I feel that she needs more nursing care than residential care. I'll see how things go. Meanwhile I shall be visiting her twice a day to make sure she is getting fluids into her.
My new phone is playing up. I keep losing my contacts. Its going back when I get round to it. I am now using my old phone but the speaker has blown which makes phone calls interesting to say the least. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. That's one thing to be said for needing help to dress - I have to get bathed and dressed good and early, as Mr LW leaves for work at 07:15.:DMy friend is coming over this morning for coffee so I will have to grab a shower and get dressed today. I've been invited out for lunch tomorrow as well by another friend so I will get dressed for that too. It's very easy for me to just stay in my pj's all day when I don't go out or see anyone and that is not great for my mental health.
Oh I know, isn't it hard to find "just" the right card? I can never find anything appropriate, even for Mr LW; so I tend to get blank cards and write what I want to say myself. I'm also playing with making my own cards now, too.I have written out a card for my mum as it's her birthday on Sunday. She said she would come and see our puppy but hasn't made it here yet so I will get one of the girls to put her card in the post to be on the safe side. It is hard trying to find a card with the right words, they are all 'World's Best Mum' etc and I just can't bring myself to buy them but I do love her even though she doesn't like me very much. She will be 66 this year and no woman in our family has made it past 67 so she is a bit twitchy. She is very fit though and takes great care of herself so hopefully she will set a new record
.
Re her "twitchiness" - that I understand; Mr LW's Dad died at age 59, and Mr LW told me he was so relieved to make it to 60. He's now twitchy all over again as he's now 65, the age at which his Grandad died.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening all,
Judi - Sorry to hear about your mum. It must make things worse with the family estrangements.
Another lovely day nearly over. Washing done - stripped our bed and did the whole lot.
Done all the usual stuff an did a few hours gardening at dad's this afternoon.
Had stirfry for tea and just eaten a bowl of Eton Mess

Judi - sorry to hear about your mother, it's a difficult time all round.
My day has been fine, TV blokes came and discovered that I have two faulty PVRs. They double and triple checked the cables, connections and stuck a Sky box on which worked perfectly. I now need to contact the retailer to explain. We even rang the Freesat technical support and the agent agreed there was a problem. Think I'll post on the 'tech' board.
Anyway, whilst that was happening the other bloke was moving the bedroom TV for me, just onto another wall. And he filled in the holes left from the first installation.
Then the bloke who is going to install an outside tap in the back garden turned up to have a chat about it. He brought his lovely dog which promptly took a plastic bottle of water, stuck it into his mouth and wouldn't let go! So funny, last time the dog came he sat with one of my trainers in his mouth. Just instinct.
I've collected all the cardboard from the shed, cleaned up the garden and have enough to make a trip to the tip worthwhile. That'll be tomorrow so I can get to the bank on the same trip.
I've also booked a trip to London in November, decided to fly down from Glasgow to London City and it worked out cheaper than the train.
And that's my day done. The woodburner is on and glowing bright red so I'm sitting at the farthest away part of the room. Toasted.0 -
Evening all. What a lovely day it's been, has summer arrived at last!
We got back from the caravan yesterday afternoon but not had a minute to post since! Tea to make a start on as soon as I walked through the door, in readiness for the 3 DGDs coming for sleepover. Then it was all systems go till we got the eldest to bed.
Busy day today from the word go! Once the 3 girls had all been fed, dressed and thrown in the car for the school run I unpacked our caravan stuff and got 2 washer loads on the line. Then a flying visit to SIL with her 60th birthday gift and card. Shopping next job - Iceland and Ald* and spent rather more than I had hoped to! Late lunch and then I pottered in the garden until it was time to make a start on tea for the girls coming back for another sleepover. They wanted Lasagne so had to make a huge one as DD's boyfriend coming for tea too.
Just collapsed with a large glass of wine now they are all in bed (think I have earned it!) DW to empty but that can wait!
We had a good day at the Ripon races on Tuesday but sadly our winnings didn't cover our losses! It was very wild and windy but at least the rain held off. The weather over our time at the caravan wasn;t up to much with rain battering the roof and wind blowing and battering the awning! I think it's the first time we have needed to put the heater on in June too!
JUDI sorry to see your mum isn't well. Thinking of you and also Mrs LW with Docky. Good news though for Csarina, I hope the move doesn't prove too stressful. Hope JackieO is progressing well after the op.
Hugs to all else in need, take care and sleep well xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Lovely day again and I am catching up on the washing that has built up over the last week because of the rain.
Not been posting much, but I have tried to read every day ; firstly because I have been to and fro to the doctor and hospital and my BG is all over the place, at the moment they have upped my insulin again and I am expecting it to be upped again tomorrow because I am back at the hossy.
Got to ring for my blood test results tomorrow morning and let the hossy know when I go up in the afternoon what the result is.
The main problem is that one day I have loads of energy and others I am totally shattered, plus both ankles and feet are really swollen
hopefully they will get it sorted out soon, just got to keep plodding on.
To top it all my computer fan fritzzed out so I have had to make do with the tablet, which is ok but very very slow............
DS fixed a new fan for me tonight, it is very handy having a computer genius in the house
Hester many blessings for DH tomorrow xx
Judi I am so sorry to hear that your Mum has deteriorated so quickly
(((Hugs)))
JackieO get well soon, you are missed xx
Mrs Lurchwalker I hope Docky is ok xx
meanmarie I hope that you are well xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
