O/S Daily Thursday 4th June 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, blue sky and sun shining. Load of washing in the WM at the moment, will put it out on the line later.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was naughty egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, black pudding, mushrooms and beans. I managed to get a proper look in the outside freezer and found the chicken I’d been looking for – so that’s now defrosted and safely in the fridge for tonight’s dinner, which will be HM chicken, mushroom and bacon pie, mash, veg and gravy.

Work was much quieter yesterday, but there’s been a mail-out and these letters will be hitting the mats at some point over the next few days – so that always generates more enquiries, so am expecting to be busy when I go back on Monday.

I got the chores done yesterday that I wanted and when DS2 came in from school, I suggested to him that we go up to MrT’s a see if we could get him some shorts, tops etc for our holiday – using the vouchers and boost offer they have on at the moment, excellent result yet again, bill came to £60.50 and I had £60 worth of boost vouchers, so actually on parted with 50p, result! I just need to go through DH’s stuff now – he will need more t-shirts but not much else.

Today I have all the normal chores to do, washing, drying and ironing, housework etc, will strip the beds too, as I should be able to get the bedding all line dried. Will continue to sort out in DS2’s bedroom as we’re now getting stuff sorted for the yard sale a week Saturday.

    Keep safe and well x

Thanks for starting the thread nmlc.
Snoozer, it seems to be just the ladies who have had the soap taken away, it's very strange. I've taken my own in.
Hubby has a job interview tomorrow, so fingers crossed for him, it would be extremely inconvenient for a few months if he got it, but better in the long term.
The fish have been fed, hubby & I have a cuppa each, he's on lates today, doesn't finish until 9:45 & then has to be up and out by 5:30 tomorrow morning to get to the interview.
Time I got a wriggle on & made the packups.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a beautiful sunny morning here today but I wasn't very appreciative at 5am :). Never mind, I will grab a nana nap later on with my puppy. Hubby has gone off to work ok and the girls are eating breakfast and making their packed lunches for school.

My friend is coming over this morning for coffee so I will have to grab a shower and get dressed today. I've been invited out for lunch tomorrow as well by another friend so I will get dressed for that too. It's very easy for me to just stay in my pj's all day when I don't go out or see anyone and that is not great for my mental health. I still haven't heard when I have to see my psychiatrist so I need to chase that up.

I have written out a card for my mum as it's her birthday on Sunday. She said she would come and see our puppy but hasn't made it here yet so I will get one of the girls to put her card in the post to be on the safe side. It is hard trying to find a card with the right words, they are all 'World's Best Mum' etc and I just can't bring myself to buy them but I do love her even though she doesn't like me very much. She will be 66 this year and no woman in our family has made it past 67 so she is a bit twitchy. She is very fit though and takes great care of herself so hopefully she will set a new record :).

I am hoping everyone has a good day today but sending out extra hugs for Judi and good wishes for Hester's hubby. Hoping Docky has a good day too, take care xx

    Morning :hello:

Sorry your mum isn't well Judi xx

I've just looked up dog behaviour and joy of joys – Scampi has definitely hit adolesence. Everything he owns is in danger of being ripped to bits, including his soft bed – which we've had to take away and put the hard plastic one in it's place. He's gone for a few of our things too so I've had to hide them away. He's now not allowed in the lounge unless one of us is in there. He's peeing in the hall, even though the back door is open, ignoring us, etc etc. I love him to bits and dislike him, all at the same time

My shopping's being delivered this morning, I usually pile it on the floor as it comes through the door but it's going to have to go straight on to the workshops today :D

Notebooks are full of info, I still need to rearrange some of it but there's a routine and plan emerging.

My little pile of little flowers is now a big pile of little flowers :D I have 31 at the moment, not sure whether to make a few short garlands or one long one.

Just a couple of loads of washing to do today, it looks like it's going to be a nice day so it should dry quickly. I suppose I'd better pack, can't really be bothered though. It won't take long, everything that's on hangers stays on hangers and gets laid flat in the boot of the car – easy tranference to the wardrobe once we arrive :D

    Good morning all,

Thank you nmic for starting today's thread.

A beautiful morning here, the bed has been stripped and linen now in the WM.

Himself will finish the painting this morning, working his way downstairs and painting the 2 door frames in the hall. I have a couple of tubs in the front garden by the door which need to be cleaned out and fresh compost put in, so I will do that and they will be ready for when we go to buy the plants tomorrow. I thought we would have geraniums because they are slightly more slug resistent. We have hundreds of them and as I understand it they don't much like the smell of geraniums - WE SHALL SEE.

Hugs to Elona, Judi, Dumpling and anyone else who would like one and good luck to Hester's DH. A special hug to Lyn and Docky.

I hope the website is going to settle down today, it is so frustrating at the moment.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone.

Blue skies again, two days in a row is just spoiling us. Yesterday turned out lovely so fingers crossed for today.

This morning the TV installer is coming back to sort out a small left over problem with the Freesat connection downstairs. And I want the bedroom TV moved to a different wall, just after it was installed I changed the room layout (so I can see the sea from the bed) so now it's in the wrong place.

It was the final evening teaching session last night which was sad. We've all had a great time and the group all learnt a lot, some more than most. They all want to come back in the autumn to make more progress.

Right, must get washed and dressed ready for the TV bloke.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

    Morning all

Beautiful day , hoping to get in the garden as I've got quite a few plants to put in :T

I also wanted a lie in as I'm so tired but next door decided to hammer up a concrete path at 7.30 this morning  they are lovely people but so inconsiderate at times , like lighting a fire when my washing is out :(

Red ruby I'm having trouble with the site too , I was timed out twice trying to post a message

Taking MIL out for lunch today , it's always a palava lol trying to negotiate her and the wheelchair and we are going to a little cafe in the park where dd2 is working so she can see her . Hopefully we can get the chair through the door ;)

Right off for a shower have a good day everyone
(((Hugs))) to all who need xx
  • Morning!! Today we get the keys for our new home, we have to meet the outreach worker at 2.30, go through the house and complete the paper work and its ours so to speak.........

OH is not sure what he is going to take, he things we should leave the potted up plants here until the weather settles down. I need to pack a picnic bag and take the old caravan kettle with us, so we can 'camp out' whilst we sort things out.

Its a lovely morning, bright and sunny, lets hope the weather is settled for a few days.

Finally got to sleep just before one o'clock and was just in a deep sleep when the phone went once at 6.30 a.m.

Caller withheld their number:mad: Tried to get back to sleep for even an hour but no luck so browsed on here then stripped the superking bed and loaded washing machine. Had porridge for breakfast as have no bread in so will go shopping later and maybe to library.

Brought cup of tea upstairs and had a shower and washed hair so feel a bit more human. Might spoil myself and book a pedicure and have a look round the weekly market later.

DD due back later tonight so will be lovely to see her and older DD and SIL are here over the weekend.

No idea what to cook tonight but might look for YS bargains this afternoon.

    Hugs to all
