Most of your questions we can't answer because they will depend on the doctor and, for the waiting time, how busy they are. I hope it isn't too long. The D and I of DISCO stand for diagnostic interview so it will be mainly talking.

You will not play games, when you say nhs appt what exactly do you mean? your gp. or other?

The path for a formal diagnosis is as follows
    1. Speak to gp who will then decide if referral to a specialist is required
2 You may then be send some questionnaires by the specialist or their department to fill in .
3 The specialist and their team review the completed questionnaire to decide if you fit the criteria or there is a possibility you may.
4 If they feel you do then you will be invited to a face to face appt and yes you can bring someone with you, here they will talk to both you and your family members in detail to get a full picture
    5. There may well be more than one appt
6 All the above is then reviewed to reach a diagnosis.
7 there is no cure for apsergers and limited support across the country to learn to adapt and understand it fully to make day to day life easier

The diagnostic team will need information about what you were like as very small child, and through your childhood. Ideally this would be given by a parent or failing that an older brother or sister, but could be anyone who knew you well. It's good that you have school reports.

The DISCO is just a structured way of gathering information, it's talking. You might be asked to do a few activities as well, it just depends what methods the team use.

Don't worry about the process, the team will explain everything to you. I hope you get the outcome you want.

It all varies on area, it seems to take 6-12 months for an assessment and in my experience I was messed around a lot.

Town 1 I was on waiting list 6 months, then got a letter dated 3 weeks before saying that due to how they are swamped they are contacting everyone to see if they are still interested and unless you responded with 7 days they will take you off the list, well how could I when letter was 3 weeks old! So I had to go through whole thing again, appointment with doctor, letter sent off a few weeks later getting letter saying I was on list and had to wait 6-12 months, 8 months later I moved and at new place was waiting almost a year and not even a single response.

Finally I moved to a different area and left it a year, saw doctor was referred and within 6 months was seen and told I was autistic on the spot from the dotor at the assessment!
