Costs for fitting and installing an intercom system

Hi there,
I have looked online but can't get a gauge of how roughly much it would cost to purchase and fit an intercom system to a main front door which can be serviced from 3 individual flats in a Victorian terrace house.
Also, would the fitting of an intercom system require any changes to the locks of the main door?
If there is anyone who could provide an estimate of how much it be likely to cost (the goods and the installation) that would be great.
Thanks,
Saf

Regarding the lock, if you don't have any intercom/"buzz release" system at the moment then you'll need an electronic strike (fail secure, i.e. the latch will fail locked if power fails to it). You can then either turn the lock from the inside to open the door or push a RTE (Request to Exit) button which will release the latch, note I don't recommend a RTE on a fail secure lock as you will then still need a manual turn mechanism so you might as well have this in the first place.
You'll need a power supply which isn't attributed to any of the flats to power both the door lock and the intercom mechanism (unless one of the flats is happy to pay for the small amount of electricity consumed).
The intercom will involve running 7 core (normally) cable to each flat to enable both voice and lock release.
Ive done it mostly in a commercial environment and we figure around £50 for the main door (latch and psu only), about £50 per flat for the intercom system (Ive used Bell intercoms which seem to work fine).
A Bell VRK3 which includes the intercom unit that sits outside and 3 Bell intercom phones for the flats would be about £200-230 depending on where you go.
So Id invisige about £250-300 (including the cable) and thats before labour. Hopefully theres some easy access voids to each flat.0
