    HES managed to find the engineer report. Apparently the heat exchange was the faulty part and the engineer never mentioned that the part couldn't be replaced just that, as the boiler was over 20 years old, it was beyond economical repair. As a side note he said that the burners and boiler were full of dirt and fluff. The annual service carried out by HES was done two weeks before.

    I've also asked them when contract renewal letters are sent out (as I don't recall ever receiving one), and if I can have a copy of the original terms and conditions. They say they don't have records of any of that info. The engineers report is apparently in a format they can't send to me but the report is destroyed after a period of time anyway!

    It sounds like they operate out of a poorly appointed shed and just make it up as they go along!
