Help with working tax credits!

Hi all
My working tax credits were stopped last October as my hubby hadn't submitted his tax returns (self employed) I've recently done this and informed them.
Will I receive back dated payment for the months that were missed?
Thanks

He's self employed and hadn't submitted his 2012/13 or 2013/14. With his mum being So ill with breast cancer he hadn't got round to doing it. (He irritates me!!) 6 months of receiving working tax credits they stopped them and told me we wouldn't receive the payments unless SA was updated.
I then was told I had an overpayment of 2300.....which I had to pay back.
I've since updated this and called them up the other day in which she said I didn't owe any overpayment. But can I reclaim the 6 months we missed out on WTc or not?
It's so complicated :-(
We've struggled with 3 children to live off £150 a week so I'm cross they did this.
Thanks for the reply xx0
