Leasing help
Hi all,
My car of no value is about to die and with two kids I really cannot be without one. (Poor princess
)
Anyway, with no lump sum to go and pay cash at the moment for a new car and having had this old wreck for a while I was thinking about leasing a car. I've never leased a car so will do my research of looking at different companies but can you do this through the dealer to?? Is it really awful to lease?? I want to pay the least I can every month for a reliable car. Very small mileage done so am not worries about the restrictions on that.
IS there anything in particular I need to look for when leasing??
Any help would be gratefully received and any sarcy comments wont!
Thanks all

If you're only doing small miles, you might want to think about alternatives to a standard car lease. Very good deals recently on Renault Zoe electric car with low deposit and monthlies on PCP.0

Look for 3+23/35/47 deals and remember to go personal lease instead of business lease to include the VAT.
LingsCars have a Nissan Micra for 3+47 (4 year lease) for £112.44/month. So that would be £338 up front.

I bought a car on Just Add Fuel, turned out to be a big mistake. I was young, naive, believed what the salesman said so didn't look at the small print. Because I did huge miles (which I did tell them about!) after the 3 years I was in negative equity so couldn't hand the car back without paying a stupid amount of fees. I decided to buy the car outright using a low interest bank loan - I don't advise this!
Second time round I bought a second hand car, a 3 year old Peugeot from a different dealer. I have it for 5 years and pay a monthly figure which I can overpay if I want to, and at the end of it I own the car. It came with 12 months warranty which was needed for two jobs, and it's been perfect really.
So, when I come to get my next car, I will be going for the 3+ year old option. I would also go to a large dealership, like Robins And Day or Stratstone. I'd avoid Arbury like the plague if there is one near you.0 -

It's the benefit of experience. I was in a similar position when I got my car on Just Add Fuel, and I'd advise against that and to go with what you're suggested.0 -
If you want 'to pay the least amount monthly' then you should be looking at a PCP not a lease.
Or just buy a decent used car for about £2K-why do you need to go new and then carry all the depreciation? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Indeed they did-which does not preclude others suggesting alternatives. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You'll find that a PCP often costs as much if not more than a lease, even if its at 0%, simply because the dealer will work it so you pay more than the depreciation so you have a lower GFV and appear to have 'equity' in your car, which they'll hope you part ex towards another PCP.
With leases though, its a purchase you make with your head, not your heart as options and metallic paints soon make the price shoot up (you pay full price for the option even if in theory it will make the resale value higher)0
