New car transferring NCD...

Hi, sister has just purchased a new car they still have old car she asked her current insurer to transfer NCD to new car and was advised it will cost £300 on top of insurance.
They still want to use old car.. So 2 cars in family 3 drivers. I have told her too get new insurance on the new car with her NCD and her husband and daughter who is a new driver as additional drivers.
And for the the second car which is a banger, too get policy in her husbands name with her has an additional driver. Daughter will not drive second car. Am gonna see her in afternoon. So just wanted to know is this best method? And would she get a refund for the 6 months remaing on her car insurance.?

If she cancels her existing insurance she will get a pro-rata refund for the time left however will have one or more cancellation fee to pay that will be deducted the refund. She may also find that optional extras like Legal Expenses dont generate any refund.

As they only have 1 NCD and now two cars they need to do some dummy quotes to work out which vehicle the NCD is going to get best benefit. Gut reaction says itll be the one with the young driver but need to consider what the two vehicles are etc
