Hi I bought a Wansview NCM-625W ipcam and I have added inbound and outbound ports to my router after it was not working and that seemed to cure the problem but there is still something not right.

I want to be able to access it via the net and I seem to be able to do this from my phone using a ipcam app but if I put the DDNS (i think that is what it is called) into the address bar of a browser it says offline except in explorer at home when I went to a friends house and tried it on their explorer it did not work, just showed offline.

I know the DDNS bit is right as I had to put it in the app to get it working together with a port.

When I do it through a browser I tried it with the port and without but it looks like the instruction say put it in without, I'm confused.

Incidently the ipcam is cabled not wifi.

I want to be able to use it from when I am on holiday just by using someones browser.

Any help or info appreciated.

For a quick test check the advanced setings in the firewall settings for something called "DMZ", place the cameras internal IP address here.
This takes out side of any firewall you have set up.

Google "what is my IP" that will tell you your External IP address.

Try typing in the EXternal IP address plus the first port number (i.e. http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9191) if you can see it then try accessing it using the DDNS on the camera. If you can then it's a firewall issue, if not then it might be something more complicated.

You might need to set up a Dynamic DDS service like DynDNS or No-IP

Make sure the camera always gets a static internal IP address, set the router so that the correct ports to forward to that IP, then do as suggested in the post above.

  • If port is set correctly, you can check, if you have some settings for IP range, or allowed IPs,
sell I hadn't problem with webcam, but with my STB, and this solved it.
