i know a person who has been sick for nearly 2 years now but because he has been out the country and still is he has been unable to claim but as he is returning back to the uk soon i just wanted some advise
from what i can see he is suffering form tourettes as sometimes or many times his shoulders and body parts just move violantly without any intention from him
also he has a condition where its like there are 2 people in his body meaning that when he speaks to his wife another lighter voice interupts the conversation and speaks to his wife and swears and insults her
also he has constant intrusive and blasphemous thoughts and these thoughts never go away
how hard he tries as he is out the country he cant go to doctors and is currently on no medication
i advised him to comeback home
and need help on what beenefits he would able to get
he was in uk last september so he has visted the mental health unit there last but then went abroad

Before he even starts thinking of what he can get benefit wise he needs to get himself sorted out medically.
If he is suffering from psychosis, then medication can control that, and medication should help control his other problems & make life a little easier for him to cope with.
DLA isn't granted because of an illness or disability, it's what the care needs arising from the said illness or conditions are.
Who can say if he'd get it, let alone what rate as sometimes people with incredibly debilitating illnesses are turned down. All he can do is apply & see what happens. He would need medical backup to have any success though. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Until he is in the country and receiving medical treatment then it would be hard to say. Once the condition is under treatment then they would consider what he needs when under treatment. Things they will consider is not the illness itself but how it effects doing things for himself, such as making meals, getting dressed, help getting around, help being safe etc etc.
I have a relative with severe pshychosis who battled for a year in applying for DLA, she receives lower rate now but took an appeal with her mental health nurse etc involved. One day I might be more organised...........

Tourettes can be controlled with medication0

You would of needed personal care for at least 3 months before you can even apply for DLA. The illness/disabilities also need to be predicted to last 6 months or more.
He needs to see a GP and get a referal to the local mental health team which will conduct an assessment based on needs and will offer help/meds accordingly.
Tourettes and multiple personality disorders can be treated with medication altough this can take a while to balance out.
Is he from the UK? Could he return and see a GP ASAP?
These type of MH problems you are describing need professional medical help and advice.
