Chrome table legs

PURRING
Have just been given a high kitchen table for using with bar stools.I'd love to make it lower. Is it possible to cut/saw the 4 chrome legs successfully without ruining the table. Any advice would be much appreciated !

You can easily cut chrome legs with a hack saw or an angle grinder. Best results would be if you have access to a table saw? Be careful to cut to same length and square, easier said than done! Suggest you file cut edges and fit felt feet or similar to the bottom of each."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

A table saw will be useless for such a job. :silenced:
I assume they are metal legs....
A hacksaw, angle grinder (with approporiate disc) or metal cutting bandsaw.
Be carefull not to put too much stress on the joints where the legs join the tabletop. Ideally, unscrew/bolt if possible. If not, rest the leg on something solid, so it doesnt move when your cutting.
A fine hacksaw blade will be most use, a 24 tpi, fitted in a standard frame.
Put some masking tape where you want to cut, this will protect the chrome incase you slip with the saw blade.
Make sure you mark them all identical, and square.
One way to do this is use a sheet of thick paper, wrap it around and line the edges up, that will then be a square cut.
If you do take them off, wrap them up in an old towel or similar when you put them into a workmate (if you have one!)
Clean off any sharp edges with a file.

My table saw can accept a disc for cutting steel. I guess most others can too. :rolleyes:I assume they are metal legs...."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Get a fine toothed hacksaw, that way it won't chew the chrome to bits. Ask you local DIY place, they might have some rubber feet that you can put on the bottoms of the legs. Please do not feed the Trolls!0
