if you could start over again..what would you do?

Id be a veterinary nurse, Rspca inspector or certainly something to do with animal welfare. As a school leaver, the interest in this sort of thing was there, but I simply had no ideas about potential jobs/careers. Even after my A levels I just drifted into the first thing that came along and was miserable for years. I had no help or guidance or support from my parents.
Im too old now to start over and too tied down with family commitments. The best I can do is give my children all the support they need to make the right choices.

I took up bellydancing about 10 years ago, since then I've been to festivals throughout the Uk and been taught by people from America, all over Europe, Brazil......they make a living doing that and performing of course. Wish I'd known about it when I was a lot younger!

Ideally I'd pursue my first love of music.

I'm not unhappy with where I've ended up so wouldnt necessarily change anything.

Now maybe start my career a little earlier rather than spending 10 years in call centres (from 15) or I may look to be in a more glamorous part of Financial Services but in theory I could move across even now if I was that interested to do so without a terrible amount of effort.

I am a Vet Nurse and it's never too late OP! I teach now and my oldest students have been 64 and 65!

I'd be an accountant, make my money semi retire at 50 and retrain as a vet nurse, or museums and archivist type role..
    NOT a NEWBIE!

    Was Greenmoneysaver. . .
  • Really Hillbilly? I wonder if your older students had serious intentions of getting a job out of their training or whether they did it just for something to do ( like a hobby?). Do people stand just as good a chance of employment in their later years? Please I am not trying to offend any one here x

I became a nurse but should have become a doctor. I'd have enjoyed the job and the money.

I don't think I would change much, other than get a better understanding much earlier on how business actually work, and especially for large corporates and how I fit into that.

I work in accounting but should have just went with IT and learned programming early on. I built my first computer and learned HTML when I was 13 and was self-teaching myself a lot in my free time after school but then I just focused on business instead. I'm very creative and smart and could have probably started good making money with apps from a young age. Not Snapchat money but enough to make a career in accounting look like a joke.

Leave off the drugs, booze and general misbehaviour until after I'd done my A levels. Then I might have actually have passed them and got into my career of choice.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Worked harder and got into physio. That was what I really wanted to do but I got my first proper boyfriend around the time of my GCSE's and they went down the khazi somewhat...
