    But petrol stations and shops and pretty much any business you care to mention (except maybe Amazon and Google!) have fixed costs too yet they manage to charge one simple price.


    What is special about power companies that they should be able to levy a charge to make that ensures they don't make a loss on an individual supply? Surely it isn't beyond their wit to factor this in when setting a price.
