security question about selling un-needed sky wifi hub on ebay

Options
as per title - I have a new/unused hub I dont need

the hub comes with a preset wireless network name, password & PIN ( not sure what the last one is ?)

are all these OK to give to a buyer ? - I assume at least the first 2 are needed to log onto the the hubs local wifi network

I assume Sky wont think its me using the hub at a different address ? - which could, say, have potential repecussions if the buyer is a big downloader of illegal content

I think that Sky hubs/routers/modems are linked to your account.

yup , is,nt the user name encrypted into the modem/router , and that's why people were struggling to use other routers as they could not extract it?

interesting - lots of people always selling these on ebay though

I guess my router would work as I still have a sky subscrption so my login details stored in the router would be valid when used at a different address ? - guessing router would not work if original users sky sub has ended ?

I am actually using an old unlocked BT hub version 1 to connect to Sky with generic login details meant for people who migrated from O2 so not every user is identified by their router i.e. you dont have to extract your sky username/password from the sky hub to use a different router as you can just use the generic ones

Just wondering if the username/password stored in the hub may only be linked to your account when used for the first time ?

if , as I have read regarding the encrypted passwords , then yes your original info when you joined.

I think your situation is different in the fact that you migrated from O2

however I do not know if the details held in the router can be edited

Given the hardcoded details I am probably going to keep the sky router as a backup in case the O2 username/password stops working

Keep your Sky router in case of future problems. Sky support will not be familiar with any other type of router.
I'm ex O2 using hacked Home hub, but still have my sky supplied router safe in it's box, just in case.
    Move along, nothing to see.
