We have had a death in the family, and I am trying to call a number in Ontario Canada, using PlanetTalk - 08433751020 -
I have the number of the person there, but have not phoned it before, and I cannot seem to get any answer, because the number is coming up as dead/unobtainable (long tone).
I have seen various bits of advice on which prefix numbers to use, and I am using (after I get the PlanetTalk prompt) 011 905 XXX XXXX
I am feeling a bit frazzled today, because various things have gone badly wrong, and this is just tipping me over the edge.
Can anyone please help?

Try 001 905 instead of 0110

011 is the international access code when you are using a phone in North America and want to call a number somewhere else in the world.
From most of the world, including the UK, the international access code is 00.
After that, you'll need the country code of the country you are calling then the area code and number.
At the prompt, try 00 1 905 XXX XXXX.
Be aware that the advertised rates for the 0843 number apply only from a BT landline. If you are using a different provider, or a mobile phone, the calls will cost a lot more.0 -
Or you could use Skype which is a whole lot cheaper.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

011 905 and drop the zero.0

I have a brother in St.Catharines and if I have to phone(use Skype) use 001 905.0

My son lives in Ontario. As others have said its 001 905 xxx xxxx
I usually use Call 18185 if I need to actually phone. Whatsapp also allows phone calls now if you both have the app.0 -
Thanks for your help folks.
I am ringing from a BT landline, so will use 001 as the prefix when I phone again this afternoon.0 -
Normally I'd say Skype is not cheap, but they currently have a free trial first month of their Unlimited World bundle, which includes Canada. Don't forget to cancel it, then use another method afterwards.0

If you have inclusive BT Minutes, these people http://www.callsdiscount.com/uk/ offer access via a UK 01 number at no extra cost to you.0

You can install Google hangouts dialler on a smartphone and North America numbers including Canada are free.0
