Faulty Laptop dispute help

I bought a laptop from dell and it arrived in the 14/5/15. After 11 days the charger refused to be recognised as a dell adapter so refused to charge. This was determined by dell to be a problem within the laptop which they would need to repair and said they would send a technician out to me.. As it was only 11 days old and I had seen that it was a very common problem with dell laptops I asked for a refund, which they refused because "your system is only Entitled to "Collect and Return" warranty which means depot service warranty" whatever that means.
They have refused 3 times now to give me a refund. I am considering calling my bank to get it charged back.
Surely I am entitled to a refund. All distance purchases allow 14 days return if you change your mind, but apparently not if its faulty according to dell, surely not?????
Any advice from someone who knows a bit more than me about consumer rights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Daniel

Seems you're outside the 14 days now but I think it's becaue you have persued the fact it is faulty, which mens the supplier (not you) can choose to either repair, replace or refund.
Had you just gone staight down the return as unwanted route, you may have been fine. As you haven't I think you're stck with the remedy Dell provide - offering to fix it it is an acceptable remedy0 -
Distance purchases allow return within 14 days if not accepted. By using this laptop you have accepted it and you can no longer return under those grounds. You can't just use an item for 14 days then change your mind as you claim.
It's not ideal but they have the choice to repair, replace or refund.0 -
How did you request a refund and can you prove they received it.I do Contracts, all day every day.0
