Car details from reg number wrong?

I'm looking at insurance websites and they all seem to get the wrong model details from my reg number. It is a 2009 model (58 reg), but they seem to think it's 2013 onwards.

The car has not been modified or anything. Is this a common thing?

Edit: tried to find the car by make and model etc, now it thinks it's a saloon (it's not a saloon, it's a hatchback).

This is strange and frustrating.

I had the same problem with the new to me (second hand) car I've just bought. It was on a private plate before which may have caused part of the problem.

HPI and other car checks were correct with the model, but Direct Line had the right make of car, but wrong trim level for it.
  • Mine doesn't have a private plate. It turns out it was google compare (never even heard of that one until today). The other sight that got it wrong allowed me to change it, so no harm done. Just a bit weird. I've not come across it before.
