No Claims Discount transferring?

I was wondering if anybody could help me,
i have had a Car Derived Van for the last 9 years using for this for work and totalled 9yrs No Claims up with this vehicle, middle of last month month the repair bill on this years MOT was out the question so decided to buy a car to use for business use (the same as what i owned before but the car version not the van version)
time for insurance, so as expected it would be a little more on insurance as it has a bigger engine in it, and finalised with Quote me happy .com, paid my deposit and uploaded my no claims discount.
today i got a email from them saying that i cannot use the NCD from my previous vehicle as its a van?
the thing is from when i got all my quotes for new insurance no where did it say that i couldnt use NCD from a van onto this car and now they want me to pay £92 a month instead of £30 (38YO 9yrs NCD!!) even though its not actually a van its a car derived van (basically a car with metal back windows)
so any help would be appreciated on where i stand now
thank you

What do you accept as proof of no claim discount?
We accept:- It must show discount earned on a private car and not a company car, classic car, motorcycle or van
They have the upper hand!
See if a local broker (not Swinton) can get you a better deal and somehow use your NCD, and if so weigh up the cost of cancelling v starting a new policy elsewhere and go the cheapest route.0
