Where did you get this information from, as i can't see how the goverment can tell banks who they can lend to.

Government are not telling them , they have just altered the criterion of the disability payments.

It's not a God given right for anyone to get a loan.

And this Government is not draconian. An Ed Miliband Government would have been draconian at best, and a nightmare for working people. Thankfully people didn't fall for that bull.

If I had wanted a political lesson from Plaid Cymru - the Party of Wales I would have tried another forum.

Can she not save up for whatever it is she wishes to use the loan for? I don't understand why she does not want to use her savings - even if she could get a loan the interest rate would be higher than than on the savings.

Has she only tried to one bank so far?

As has been said different banks have different lending criteria and different ways of viewing income streams.
E.g. some banks will consider a loan to someone with a temporary contract, others won't.
The position she is in is very similar, the bank is making their own judgement call as to how they asses the stability of her income and another bank may make a different decision.

That said if she has the savings then perhaps suggest to her that she 'loans' it to herself, and then repays the savings as she would have done a bank loan. She'll end up with her inhertiance savings at the same level and it will have cost her less in interest.
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give

Why is that unfair on you?? If you are not disabled you are free to work for income are you not?? Or would you like to employ my wife? she would be only to happy to be able to work again

    .

Thats !!!!!!!!. Its funny she had the same amount on a loan 2 years ago and has paid it back in full... LLoyds are discriminating against disabled people full stop . And the reason THEY gave me is because PIP is no longer a time defined benefit...

So if the PIP for any reason was to be taken away how would the loan be repaid?
If due to a change of circumstances you found the loan repayments difficult I bet you would be on here saying the bank was unfair lending money to someone in her circumstances.

Can I ask what the loan is for? Can you claim any other benefits to offset the loan requirement?

ESA sanctions do not stop the benefit if in the support group, only 'work related activity group' or WRAG, the benefit is reduced to the assessment amount. Generally people that have been awarded PIP should be placed into the Support Group for ESA - if your wife isn't make an appeal to do so. The CAB can help with this.

Banks have a right to introduce lending criteria to suit their business model. The bank I use to work for wouldn't allow child benefit or even tax credits (both working and child) to be used as income for the assessment of any lending.

As to the changes from DLA to PIP it was done to remove some of the stigma of people feeling labelled 'disabled'. But also, to recognise that some ppl have illness or afflictions that don't make them 'disabled' in the wider sense of the word but to provide the extra monies that some of the situations cause.

I would not give a political lesson from Plaid Cymru. They are worse than the Labour (Benefits) Party.

Perhaps they would rather lend money to people who actually need it, rather than those with money in the bank they choose not to use it?

    Hi

I am writing this rather than getting angry with the world.

It would appear that this draconian government has now decided that people on DLA and Employment support are no longer able to take out a loan. 2 years ago these benefits could be taken into account not now LLoyds have informed me that these benefits can not be used.

Does anyone else have any further info or ways we can get this changed....

A draconian government would not provide you with DLA and ESA. Feel proud and lucky we provide these benefits in the UK, and grateful to the hard workers who fund them!

This is wrong in several ways.

Since October 2013(?), the amount sanctioned has been changed from the work-related or support component to the base amount - the assessment amount.
A sanction can reduce it all the way to around 25/30 pounds a week.

The support group and PIP are unrelated.
People getting high rates of PIP care or mobility may be more likely to be entitled to ESA support group than the population at large, but it is not in any way connected.
