No loans for disabled people....
Options
Hi
I am writing this rather than getting angry with the world.
It would appear that this draconian government has now decided that people on DLA and Employment support are no longer able to take out a loan. 2 years ago these benefits could be taken into account not now LLoyds have informed me that these benefits can not be used.
Does anyone else have any further info or ways we can get this changed....

Surely it's the banks affordability criteria rather than a government policy?0

What the above poster said.Mortgage 1: May 2012 £90,000 April 2020: £47,000
Mortgage 2: £270,000😱 Jan 2019 £253,000 April 20200 -
'it would appear'
Where? .............make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Lloyds also told me I couldn't have a loan 4 years ago but I'm not on benefits - I wonder why?0

I have just took out a loan with sainsbury and we are on benefits. The only thing they did not take was my full carer's allowance, only half. As said, when looking around lenders do have different risk assessments and it does help to have a good credit record. But you have to read all the T&Cs.
I have never been refused a loan, and my bank who see's my account and what goes in and who from, offered me one. Only it was not as good as sainsbury APR .Where did you get this information from, as i can't see how the goverment can tell banks who they can lend to.0 -

Can't see why you should be angry with the world nor blame the fact you cant get a loan on the governement. I admit they aren't perfect and could do things better but they aren't to blame in this instance.
I agree with everyone else its just a policy from Lloyds.0 -

It's not a God given right for anyone to get a loan.
And this Government is not draconian. An Ed Miliband Government would have been draconian at best, and a nightmare for working people. Thankfully people didn't fall for that bull.0 -
Thankfully I am not disabled therefore I cannot get DLA - me thinks that is unfair on me - what do you think OP?
The main reason Lloyds will not lend to you is that in their opinion you cannot afford it.0 -

First of all if you want to get political I will do but please keep you opinions to your self. I asked a question based on what has happened BECAUSE of this government and its introduction of PIP.
Speaking to Lloyds its because PIP is no longer an indefinite benefit and employment support is now liable to sanctions.
Despite the fact my wife had a stroke 15 years ago and still can not speak much and has NO use in the right side at all. She was assessed as lifetime recipient under DLA.
For what its worth I have no doubt she worked harder before the stroke than you have ever done in your life.
BUT thats beside the point.....what happened to the statement on the forums that you will be helped NOT judged.
For your information my wife has a decent amount of money in a bank account left to her by her late mother but due to her disability, she will not use it as she feels it is disrespectful to her mother. Yes I know its not,
but these are the unseen issues we have to live with....0 -

.
Why is that unfair on you?? If you are not disabled you are free to work for income are you not?? Or would you like to employ my wife? she would be only to happy to be able to work again
.

Thats !!!!!!!!. Its funny she had the same amount on a loan 2 years ago and has paid it back in full... LLoyds are discriminating against disabled people full stop . And the reason THEY gave me is because PIP is no longer a time defined benefit...0
