How to stop CMC cold calling

A few weeks ago I took a call from a CMC call centre, they are easy to recognise, normally I decline the call this time I decided to answer I let an uber confident young man tell a a load of bull. Then I interceded, you do know you are speaking to Lincolnshire Police Fraud Sqaud. You could hear the panic in his voice set in. A panic striken call centre working almost shouted down the phone "I'll get the number removed" before it went silent. Not had a call from a CMC since, I would have normally expected to have recieved half dozen in that period.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The trouble with an online forum - or the telephone for that matter - is that you cannot see the telltale sign that a CMC or one of its cronies is lying.Marty_Hopkirk wrote: »Expect @addedvaluebob on here soon saying to the contary.
If they are there in person, it is obvious when they are because their lips move.0 -

The key is to let them ramble on for a while. Then say "Can I intercede, you do realise you speaking to (what ever Police Force you choose) Fraud Squad, you will actually hear the hamster wheels spinning, before you get a hasty response and the the blessed silence.
