Hi. Hopefully this is the right place. Or maybe it should be in energy?
A very long story but I had a service plan with Homeserve. After several breakdowns and issues (one being caused by their sub-contracted engineer) they came to fit a new part. They said they couldn't get the part off so took it away for an engineer to see if he could drill out the rusty bolts.
After a week I got left a voicemail saying it couldn't be fixed so they're downgrading my cover and put £200 cheque in post as its BER (beyond economic repair)
Naturally I complained and their final response was to offer £300 compensation due to the loss of days taken off work. My loss of earning was a lot greater.
I have now been left without a boiler for 6 weeks.
I have started getting quote for a replacement but they astronomical due to needing scaffolding to replace flue (live in a town house)
Is there anything else I can do with regards to Homeserve?
They've essentially washes their hands of it with compensation of less than 10% of what British Gas quote to replace.
Any advice would be welcome as we just can't afford this and my wife is getting very stressed as she's pregnant and due in October
Help please.
Thanks

Check your policy, as the settlement they would offer would be dependant upon the age of the boiler from what I remember.0

Thanks. I will try and find my contract0

British Gas prices are ridiculous for boilers.0

Hi,
does anyone have a good contact email for homeserve.
I woudl avoid this company as their service is awful/ Basically they contract out the engineers, who book appointments but don't turn up.
You then ring homserve who promise to call back, but aren't in control.
You can't speak to the engineers directly.
I went through a terrible process at New Year, which resulted in getting a refund.
Since then, they have been overcharging me. Tried to get this rectified by emailing them last week and phoning on Monday, and book an engineer, promised a call back within 2 hours! 50 hours later had 2 calls telling me that they were really concerned: but no engineer or refund!
Only response I get is if I slate them on twitter!
Who is person at top as it takes ages and huge amount of effort to get an answer.0 -

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments on this page. Homeserve seem to use unreliable contractors and have no control over appointments.
We were without hot water for 5 days as they failed to turn up on 4 occasions and they have missed 3 servicing appointments. I accepted their goodwill gesture on the first occasion but their offer for the missed Servicing appointments is derisory so will be using the Money Claim Online procedure to cover the consequential loss. They just do not want to accept the concept of Consequential Loss.
