Experian Credit file, missing most of my debts.

HI,
After putting it off for too long, I have decided I must go bankrupt as I have no way of paying off any of my debts.
I joined Experian so I could (at last) look at my awful debts listed.
I could only see my two CCJ's. Nothing else. I know I have about 4 credit card debts, catalogue debt. A mortgage shortfall debt of about £18,000. And a Firstplus debt of about £40,000. But none are on my credit report. None of these (I'm sure ) are over 6 yrs old. But definitely all over 4 yrs old.
Any help appreciated.

Does your credit file show all your past addresses for the last 6 years? including the last address each creditor held for you?
Worth also checking you equifax file and callcredit files. You don't need to join the different agencies, you can just get your £2 report from equifax and you can get your callcredit file free from their noddle website.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have put my address back to 2009.
I have tried to log on to Noodle, but it says can't verify me. I will check Equifax.
Where ever I have moved, some of the debt letters have followed.
Trying to work out the dates, a couple might be over 6 yrs old as I would like to know, as I read somewhere that they can't force a ccj if it's over 6 yrs.0 -
If there has been a period of more than 6 years where you haven't paid towards the debt, acknowledged the debt in writing and only if they haven't commenced court action - then those debts would be statute barred.
That means that you could defend any subsequent court action they tried to take (but if you don't defend then a CCJ would still be granted).
This is only for unsecured debts, your mortgage shortfall has different rules.
And rules in Scotland are different (in case you are there).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
My problem is I thought I could look up all my debts to check what dates they defaulted and to make a proper and correct listing for Bankruptcy. But even if they did come after me, I cannot tell if or when they are six years old for the statue barred. Would the debt agencies give me the correct dates if I asked this?

Your credit file isn't the best place to get a definitive list of your debts for entering bankruptcy. Some never appear on your credit files, some may have already dropped off.
If you are going bankrupt then it doesn't matter whether the debts are statute barred or not - they still be covered by your bankruptcy.
If you contact all the relevant debt collection agencies then they will be able to provide you with the current outstanding balance. Which you can then use for your bankruptcy paperwork. And even if you did accidentally miss a debt off the list it would still be covered by your bankruptcy.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
As someone has already mentioned. You need to ensure all your addresses are inputted for all the info related to you to be found!365 Day 1p challenge - £371.49 / 667.95
Emergency Fund £1000 / £1000 ( will enlarge once debts are cleared)
DFW - £TBC0 -
Yeah as said above, you need to make sure all of your address history is correct so that they can pull in the information correctly. any small mispelling of something could mean that certain records are not being pulled thorugh, i had a situation where i had to call royal mail and get them to officially add my flat number as it wasn't on their database and meant that records were not being pulled in correclty.
Hope that helps! good luck!0 -

If you would like me to take a look through your Experian Credit Report to establish why information is currently not being displayed, please email me your details (name/dob/address)
Your Experian Credit Report will show you the date the account when into default, if you feel information has been recorded incorrectly with your Bankruptcy/CCJ, please let us know as we would be happy to help.
