smoking in rented accomadation?

My daughter recently moved into a shared rented house. There are 6 housemates and apart from my daughter they all smoke. This has excluded her from most of the common areas. She has asked them not to smoke around her but they continue doing so. Should she contact the landlord about this? She has only been there a month on a six month agreement (not in writing thou). Any advise about whether she could leave and still get her deposit back if the landlord refuses to take any action?

Many tennancy contracts state "no smoking" in the house. I'm not sure whether this is legally enforceable or not (especially since the new regulations came in on July 1st).
Personally, if the contracts allow smoking, it's 5 against 1 here. If smoking is such a big deal to your daughter (especially if she has allergies or something), she should have checked who her new housemates were before moving in...Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0
