Could also consider eeking out some money every month from your income for a regular savings account.
HSBC advance do £250 pm max for 6%
First direct do £300 pm for 6%
Halifax (kids a/c) £100 max pm for 6%
    Lloyds £400 pm for 4%
Then by end 12 months you'd have even more money !
Debt is a symptom, solve the problem.

You can't even fill one of these with £1,000, and an adult does not qualify for a kids account.

But if you manage to get an HSBC Advance, the best would then be to put £300 of the £1,000 into their Loyalty ISA and earn £120 on it in just 1 year. That is a 40% return (ignoring the additional pennies of interest the £300 would earn).

Combine it with a Halifax Reward, if you can get one, and you can make £180 from £1,000 in a year. 18% AER. Requires a bit of work but pays handsomely.

Quick question regarding tsb account can the £500 be a straight transfer between them and my Natwest account or does it have to be standing order each month

So long as at least £500 is paid in each month, it doesn't matter how it's done.
