Just received a letter from Birmingham Midshires (or BM Savings as they prefer to be called now) to say my interest rate for the e-Saver (Issue 2) account is changing on the 10th August to 0.25% gross! Thanks a lot you Bloody Misers.

They used to be one of the best payers. That's another account I'll be closing and good riddance.


Actually, I'll just leave the minimum £1 in there just to keep it live and add to their admin.

They still offer a competitive 1.5% easy access savings account so just move into that. It's another 12-month bonus rate so you'll need to move again in a year's time but they're far from unique in that!

Edit: of course there are better rates available in current accounts, regular savers, etc, but given your posting stats you're probably well aware of those already!

0.5% + 1% bonus for 12 months for balances > £1000.
