Over 65 Travel Insurance Help !

I would appreciate some advise as to where I might be able to find some reasonably priced Travel Insurance for my mother.

She is due to travel to Canada at the end of this month, but due to the fact that she has had heart surgery in the past (she has arrhythmia), has high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, and water retention (sometimes results in swollen ankles) the quote I had yesterday was £800.00 !!

Can anyone suggest where I might get this a bit cheaper ?

I too am looking for cheap travel insurance for my parents who are both in their 70s. Many companies seem to think you should stay at home if you are over 65.

You could try BUPA? I am certain my dad got a quote from them and I think used them. Otherwise, they were there or thereabouts in terms of price and terms.

Another option is a credit card that provides travel insurance. I think my mum used this. But something rings a bell about only being available till the age of 65.

You could use an insurance broker?

Hopefully I've answer this thread in time.

Can I suggest you try http://www.medicitravel.com/. What it boils down that you have a pre-existing medical condition and travel insurance companies do tend to give you higher premiums.

But I would strongly suggest that you give the company a call and explain your circumstannces.
