Hi There
Wonder if anyone can help me please, i have posted here before on this related subject but looks as though things are coming to a head tomorrow so i need to know if i should say anything when we have our staff meeting tomorrow
Background - i have worked at this small compnay for the past 34 years been through all the high and lows and stayed loyal, took a non payback salary cut three years ago to keep the company going but a deal has now been done where by the two directors are selling their shares to another company, it looks as though I'm going with the company to the new venue, this compnay is not shutting down but just a new owner and a new venue, one director alledgedly suggested that the three loyal staff who were going with the company should get a loyalty payment, the other directors reply was no, if they dont like it they can resign, shows you where you stand dosent it, anyway, they have a four year deal in place, so much to start with and then another lump sum in three months and ther rest over three years, all this info has been leaked to me through company PA by email so i can see its true, slighly browned off that i was thought so little of and given that my fare to the new company is going to add an extra £320 to my monthly outgoings plus when we took the salary cuts i took on the job of the cleaning here so that pays me £50 a week, thats going to dissappear also so thats approx £500 a month i lose which i can't really afford to lose, i currently drive to work and park with a street permit here, the new company is based in the centre of London which means i wont be able to drive there, just feel so let down, the company is losing money i appreciate that and the new company is buying us for our client base and trading accrediations which they dont have, of course i have the option to resign, short term i think the new company will need me just so that things move over smoothly but had some loyalty payment been made that would have soften the blow a little bit and shown some appreciation for all the extra hours, working whilst on holiday, the pay cuts where in some small way appreciated and rewarded, my other choice is to sit here and say nothing and be grateful i have a job to go to, what would you do?
Thanks in advance

Slightly difficult to read the wall of text but how did you calculate £320?
You can talk to them just like this and explain that you are worried that you gonna lose certain amount of money which you can't afford at the moment and see what they say. There is nothing wrong with that.
Perhaps they could consider some allowance for travel? In the end, it comes down to their goodwill. Nothing to enforce them to make a loyalty payment to you.
Just explain the issues (i.e. loss of income) and tell that you'd like to help them to transfer to the new company but these things are cause of concern.
There is little to gain by approaching this emotionally I'm afraid despite the difficulty of the situation.ally.0 -

So what is the distance from your current employment location and the new 'venue' ??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Thanks for the replies, in answer to the last question the move is from East London to Centre of London, West End, not great however we had the 'talk' last week and i was the only person who said anything, everyone else kept quiet, i was accussed of being negative, this move will cost me approx £5K a year i reckon but my bosses here consider that i'm too downbeat about it and they dread the new owners coming over to speak to me as i might seem negative, really is a case of put up and shut up, the spin is that i have a job and should be grateful of that because he could have closed the company down years ago when they had another offer but chose not to, that didnt go ahead for the reasons they say but i should be grateful that didnt happen. I think that part of my life of 35 years ended last week and the new company ethos is - you have a job, shut up. be grateful and who cares if it costs you money, if you dont like it the doors over there mate, we're getting a sack load of cash for this and more so shut up lad we aint listening - how cool is that - personally i can't wait0
