Paid £660 inc VAT for full structural on a £280k 1929 detached (converted from dual commercial and residential), in Manchester, it gave £2k of works that needed doing, and peace of mind!0

A lot of the replies here are for older houses or full refurbs. I think the question the OP is asking is, is it worth getting one for a 1980s estate house.

RICS guidance suggests Homebuyers Report is more suitable for this type of property. However, your own personal attitude to risk will also come into play.0 -
Thanks Annie. Without wanting to hijack the OP's thread, the home I am after was actually converted in 1997. It's a listed barn. Would that make any difference or would Homebuyers still be best? I know that a lot of 90s converted barns are poorly done, and I've viewed several of these, but I'm fairly confident that it's "well converted", the conversion was done by a reputable firm which I have verified myself.
