Provident loan not showing on equifax

A few years I ago I got into a bit of financial difficulty and defaulted on a few things with one of them being a provident loan. This used to show on my equifax file but it has now strangely disappeared and now I am receiving letters from Vanquis telling me they have bought the debt. My last payment to this loan was back in July/Aug 2010.
I went online to the CRA to check date of default and that's when I noticed it had disappeared (I'm 99.9% positive it was there before).
I have been slowly building my credit rating back up the past 18 months and now hold a credit card with Vanquis and I'm a little concerned that they'll close it down due to my old provident loan.

Could the default have been 6 years ago?
Entries drop off your file 6 years after the default date used.
If not the other usual explanation is for an entry to be taken off by the original creditor and then added shortly afterwards by the debt collector. This can lead to a gap of a week or so when it wont show.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
No it was 2010 with a default date of jan/feb 2011. It's not even on noddle and going to order £2 report from experian. On my noddle there is 2 settled accounts in early 2010 for provident but I know it's not these. Will them buying it change the default date?0

No if the debt collector adds their own entry it should have the same default date, same default amount etc.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Is it for a lot of money? To be clear - Provident and Vanquis Bank are owned by the same parent but are not the same company - there may be an opportunity for you to get this settled and off your file if you have the funds...0
